I designed a site in Ning that enabled a department to maintain ties with former students, guest speakers, and other interested parties. After reviewing about 60 social media platforms, we settled on Ning due to its ease of use, privacy controls, and Twitter integration. Three years after I left the institution, the site is still going strong.
