Sharon Struggles with Style Sheets

As part of her ongoing struggle to re-structure the Page Design II class, Sharon worked through Chapter 10 of Jeffrey Zeldman's Designing with Web Standards. After completeing the chapter she modified the design in the chapter to insure her comprehension of the concepts presented.

Sharon liked the way the lines on this yellow background looked, and wanted to allow the lines to progress up through the #nav area through her transparent GIF logo. This proved to be a difficult change.

The key issue is that Sharon's modification required her to make a seperate table-within-table to place the buttons. Sharon is not happy with this, but could not see any other way to achieve the desired result without addressing each individual cell by its ID, a move she feared would break the embedded CSS used to make the menu track the user's location within the site.

Sharon made the table against her better judgement, erased all the .CSS, and after about an hour managed to make the nav bar work properly.

There was much rejoicing throughout the land.
