I've been playing with a new interface for this blog between helping students in the Saturday class. It's going to be a bandwidth-hogging, CSS-loving, IE-hating layout. The design came very quickly -- now we'll see how long it takes me to implement!
Online journal/sketchbook/photo album about creating non-traditional pysanky eggs.

I've always thought it would be visually interesting to do a series of eggs, all using the same motifs and colors. I've never had the patience to do this -- I always get bored with a technique after finishing the first egg. These new stripe eggs, though, are different. Or maybe this week has been so busy that I can't spare resources being creative. Whatever it is, it's working in my favor. I've finally gained it. I've been wiping the egg in Goo Gone to remove the wax left over from the stripes before waxing the spirals and junk. The first egg below, the red one, didn't get any Goo Gone -- I forgot to apply it! In the close-up you can see it didn't get as much coverage as the blue egg; which did get a light scrubbing in Goo Gone.
This is the last day of Spring Break. I've been wrapping it up by playing with an egg marker I bought a few years ago and never touched. It's difficult to use -- I just don't have the dexterity needed -- but I like the finished results. So far I've made a handful of eggs with it, but plan to use it more in the future. Near the beginning of Break I bought two dozen eggs, but I haven't had time to work with them. They've started going bad, so time is of the escensce. I've been making simple striped eggs, which has been quick, easy, and fun. Later on I'll re-wax the eggs, but for now I'm enjoying the simple beauty of the stripes.
