I’ve moved into Rachel’s house for the semester, and have decided that I must have space to practice my art. Thankfully she has a great countertop. She wasn’t using it for anything but feeding cats. I’m going to re-capture it tonight and make it my own, and make the creatures eat on the floor like normal house-cats.

Lots of trouble finding wide-mouth canning jars. They're my favorite solution for long-term dye storage. I’ve tried three or four grocery stores locally without any luck. I don’t really want to mail-order them, but I might have to.

Easter is approaching, and the kiddy kits are in the stores. So far I haven’t seen anything I can’t live without. There is a kit with glow-in-the-dark paint which would be fun for my nieves and nephews.

Today I’m obesessing with the range of colors in my dye palette. I'm not happy -- I want more bright colors. Tonight’s temptation is to order one of those Dylon classroom sets with every color of dye they make it in. I still might do it, just so I can have a better selection of color.

Bad Sharon. Very Bad Sharon. I'm trying to save a down payment for a house, and I just spent $93.00!!!!! at the Dharma Trading Company website. I bought a “travel paint kit” which has several small sizes of different paints and dyes in it, inclluding Dy-Na-Flow and Lumiere. Lots of stuff I've been wanting to play with, but never have due to the expense involved. Dharma has the kit for $55, the retail price is about $70. I also purchased six Fabricolor fabric markers, which Dharma Trading assures me are the most superior kind available. And 16-ounce plastic jars to use in place of the wide-mouth canning jars I can’t find. I only bought a few of those, so I can try them out. For future note: I put back a bottle of “magic resist,” and a nice METAL eyedropper which would have been fun to experiment with. Also a sample pack of Pinata colors, which sounded very nice.

I want to start egging, but I’m paralyzed (as always) by how much work needs to be done before I can even start! I should really finish washing dishes. I also need something to set the dye baths on, so I don’t have to worry (as much) about staining Rachel’s counter-tops. I need plastic cups to hold the dye, at least until my order from Dharma comes in. And I’m still lusting after that stupid classroom dye set, when I’ve already spent a small fortune!!! I have got to quit reading and writing and shopping and start creating. Reflection should come AFTER I finish an agg, not before I start!!
