First Plans Are Best
When I bought all that wallpaper I had planned to just stick it to the back of the bookcase with adhesive squares. Simple, quick, and probably very effective.
Then my "thinking brain" tried to take over, and persuaded me that maybe I should go ahead and use wallpaper paste on foam core instead. ARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
This involved $23 at Home Depot on paste and wallpaper-hanging supplies. Plus tacky, adhesive-covered hands and about 52 inches of wasted paper. Without gravity's help it's almost impossible to get the paper squared with the foam core. I can see how this would work vertically on a wall, but not horizontally on a work table.
Next I tried to bond the wallpaper to the foam core with plan 'ole PVA glue. It still wouldn't lie straight, although it was better than the previous attempts. Another 26 inches wasted.
Now I'm back to Square One -- the adhesive squares. Which are working beautifully. I might even finish this before I have to meet my sister tonight.
The yard guys came today, and $550 later I have a clean, neat front yard. They did a much better job than the last crew. I'm going to have J cut everything back every 10 days or so. It's not as cheap as I'd like, but it's better than doing it myself.
