Typographic Trials
I love fonts. I have hundreds on my hard drive. And I have hundreds of font sites bookmarked. Every project I undertake eventually involves printing up dozens and dozens of samples of different fonts, in different weights and different colors, trying to find the right combination. Carefully, ever so carefully, trading letters from different faces. Playing with leading, playing with kerning, trying to find the perfect effortless balance without looking too balanced.
This endless fascination with fonts, especially when combined with my strange compulsionary streak, has lead to some wonderful things. Logos I'm proud of. Flyers that couldn't be much better. Glorious business cards.
But there is one item in my life that I have never, ever been able to express typographically:
My name.
I can't find the font that expresses who I am. And it's driving me right up the wall.
