What Not to Wear
Pulled several outfits out of my closet and re-evaluated in light of dropping two sizes. The knits are OK, but sadly I don't really like knits, except for my worn-so-often-it-should-be-illegal skirt. And a few T-shirts.
The bulk of my wardrobe - all my suits, and most of my dresses - don't really fit. The jackets hang poorly. I might be able to salvage some of the skirts, but I'll have to get them all shortened. And since I'll have to buy new suits to get jackets it probably won't be worth the expense.
At one point I tried on a button-down shirt that was a little too small in December, and (strangely) it didn't look all that great. After staring at myself in the mirror for five minutes I realized the problem was the bra! I've lost two inches around my rib cage! So I need new undergarments, too.
Now for the dilemma. Do I purchase NOW, when professional clothing is on super-deep discount, or do I wait until Fall when new things are in, and I've lost more weight?
I don't think I can afford to wait. If I keep loosing I'll only be able to wear the new stuff for a season so I don't want to pay full price for the newest trends. But I can't afford the expenditure right now, either. Not on a summer paycheck.
I just didn't think about how dieting would affect my bottom line!

Damned if you do, miserable if you don't?
Congrats on the weight loss... it's a tough thing to do and an even sweeter accomplishment when you SUDDENLY realize you're two sizes smaller.
I read your blog sometimes, mainly to see the pics of your house. You have some very unusual and creative ideas. You're willing to try things most people would never have the nerve to do and all the pics look great. I like the floor and the corner tub especially.
Good luck on the clothing thing. For some unsolicited advise, you might try Foley's. I've found some nice stuff on clearance there and with their extra 20% off coupons from the paper, I've gotten some great deals (like $60 dresses that are great for summer but nice enough for work with a sweater thrown over the top for around $20).
Cheers,

Thank you!!!! I feel very lucky to be living in this house. The previous owner had great taste, and left me good "bones" to work with. All I really had to do was add color (!!) and accessorize.
Personally I'm not too crazy about the corner tub. The house's other bathroom (just on the other side of the wall) is VERY tiny, and if it had been up to me I would have enlarged it instead. I'm also a shower person, so it's really wasted space.
Most of my home ideas are borrowed from others. My two all-time favorite books are Home Cheap Home, which is just wonderful, chock full of ideas and inspiration, and Pad, which is much wilder, stranger, and tripped-out. And I spend a small fortune on design magazines. I have a two-inch-thick scrapbook of magazine photos I like. It's my first resource when I can't figure out which way to go.
All the new do-it-yourself craft blogs are fun, too. I have several when-I-have-time ideas garnered from the getcrafty blogs.
For clothing -- I decided to ditch professional stuff for now, and focus on something summery. (If you can't make a decision put it off!) I ended up with a pink sundress from alight.com. They have variety, and since they're not a manufacturer (like, say, Junonia or Lane Bryant or Ulla Popken) they don't have a 'look.'
Thanks again for the comments, and you WILL find your red sofa!!! I didn't have Blogger set up to email me comments, and I didn't read yours until a month later, and by then a response seemed a little pointless!
