Degrees at North Lake College
North Lake
offers two different degrees -- the Associate of College/University Transfer
Degree and the Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree. Both of these degrees
incorporate a major in dance. Recommended courses for these degrees are offered
at the end of this section. For more information, please consult the DCCCD catalog and the current course
schedule, available on the NLC Home
Page.
Associate of College/University Transfer (ACUT) Degree
This degree is an
individually-tailored degree designed according to the student's selected
transfer institution and particular to the baccalaureate degree to be sought.
Students wishing to pursue this degree should talk to a Dance Faculty Advisor
and the Transfer Degree Counselor on NLC campus.
Associate of Arts and Sciences (ASS) Degree with Dance Major
This degree
will provide a broad base of experience for students who plan to transfer to a
senior college or university. If a student elects not to follow the suggested
department requirements, a dance faculty member will help the student select
courses needed to reach educational goals. Students are encouraged to take basic
CORE courses along with dance classes. As a dance major, one-third of all course
work is in liberal arts courses. This enables the dancer to contribute more
professionally to educational endeavors with intelligence and integrity.
